Under the Health and Community Services Complaints Act 2004 (external site), community services include:
- helping people in poverty, distress, or hardship
- providing emergency relief or support
- caring for or protecting children at risk (as defined in the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2016), including services that:
- respond to child-at-risk notifications
- investigate cases and take follow-up action.
- helping social advancement for disadvantaged groups
- administration directly related to these services.
- community support or care
- emergency accommodation or financial assistance
- accommodation or support for socially disadvantaged people
- counselling, advice, or community information
- community advocacy, self-help, or mutual aid.
- job search or employment training services
- services provided by Housing SA (including SA Housing Trust and SA Housing Authority), except complaints about staff behaviour.
